How influential was CLYDE McPHATTER? After noticing he was not at a performance with his group The Dominoes, AHMET ERTEGUN sought him out, signed him up and asked him to form his own group. After a short time with The DRIFTERS, Clyde (November 15, 1932 – June 13, 1972) found solo success as well. He was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in the Class of 1987, in just its second year.
It's an old story, not too long and one of the best Doo Wop songs.
The BEACH BOYS have just finished their 50th anniversary tour and are cleaning out the archives. Check out this terrific footage of not only the band in the studio, but the genius BRIAN WILSON at work and the Wrecking Crew in their office.
