Often called "the architect of Rock & Roll"- LITTLE RICHARD is 80 years old today!

 

Inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in its first class, it's hard to overestimate Little Richard's influence on the genre and others who have become it's biggest stars.  Elvis, Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger and Michael Jackson were all influenced by one Richard Penniman.

Ain't it good to groove to ANDY KIM's biggest hot on his birthday?  He's either 60 or 66- depending on whom you believe.  You may remember he also had a hit with his version of The RONETTES "Baby, I Love You" and Andy also co-wrote "Sugar Sugar"; a #1 for The ARCHIES and the record of the year in 1968.

 

 

While we're on the subject of Power Pop; BADFINGER peaked at #8 with their second U.S. hit today in 1970.
