February 9

Happy Birthday CAROLE KING!

If Carole King only recorded Tapestry in 1971, she would still have had a remarkable career.

The truth is, she wrote some of the most-loved songs of the 1960's with then-husband Gerry Goffin.

Hear Carole tell the story of their first big hit and sing it with JAMES TAYLOR.

Down the hall from Gerry Goffin and Carole King at The Brill Building, BARRY MANN (b 2/9/1939) and CYNTHIA WEIL were also writing hit after hit.

Unlike Carole, Barry only sang on one hit record, co-written with Goffin.

Lastly, another of my favorite love songs from the same era:

Michigan's BARBARA LEWIS hits 70 today.
